Church Library
In 1995 a group of women who were part of our church organization “Moms Meeting At The Cross” decided that our church needed to have a church library. This dedicated group received donations from individuals and AAL to finance their new venture. They used an upper chapel room as the library and did the work of purchasing, cataloging and maintaining the library for a number of years. This 'Moms' group later disbanded and several individuals continued to keep the library going.
Then came a major renovation and expansion of the church which culminated with an updated library which officially re-opened in September of 2007.  At that time the library had room to grow, and so was moved to a separate room adjacent to the gathering space and entrance and Peace renewed their membership in WELS-CLO (Church Librarians Organization).
There is a small but dedicated staff that keeps the library running smoothly. We do not use the Dewey Decimal system but continue, as the original group started,  to use categories for our books with a color-coded legend. The entire inventory is on computer in the church office. The library is open when the church is open and operates by self-checkout using a card system, with returns placed in a Book Return box. Later someone from our staff re-shelves the books.

The library has  received a small allowance from the church budget for the past few years and is blessed to have received donations of books from many of our members, especially in the fiction category. At present there are almost 900 books and a small but growing selection of DVDs for children and family entertainment. Peace library has a complete set of People's Bibles, most of the NPH series of People's Bible Teaching Series, Impact, and several other Doctrine series. In addition, we have sections for Parenting, Marriage, Devotions, Comparative Religions, Evangelism and several other categories. We also have a large Fiction shelf with well-known Christian authors such as Karen Kingsbury, Lynn Austin, Wanda Brunstetter, Terri Blackstock, Beverly Lewis and more.
Monthly articles are placed in our church newsletter that tell our members of new books, seasonal topics and other helpful books.  Occasionally you will see a bulletin board on an easel in our Gathering Space to promote new additions and seasonal selections.  We continue to try to provide solid Christian materials, many from NPH, in fiction and non-fiction for all ages and interests. It has been very gratifying to see how, in increasing numbers, members of all ages are using our library.  Feel free to visit soon and enrich your reading time with some of our wonderful selections!  For more information on Peace Church library, contact Diana Zastrow at  diana.zastrow@gmail.com.
